The London based “Economist” rates Syria as more unstable than Bahrain. What the London rag fails to take into account is how close regimes are to the sentiments of the Arab street. The Alawite regime with its Latakia stronghold is not seen as beholden to Israeli or American interests and is not lead by an old face. The Sunni king of a Shi’a populace in Bahrain, with the US Fifth fleet anchored, is far more unstable, in spite of payments of $2,7000 to each Bahraini family.
