Saint Rocco Day, August 16, 2011

Saint Rocco was a French pilgrim who was killed in Italy when they wrongly believed he was a foreign spy. Prayers to St. Rocco were known to be most helpful during the scourge of the Black Death. Like St. Lazarus, he is depicted with a dog. Today is the birthday of my deceased maternal grandfather.

May St. Nicholas of Tolentino, Umbria, patron of Purgatory, pray for the poor souls in Purgatory.
